After I managed to free my car from the deadly snow (see below), I went up to Ono to see Sam for a weekend of snowboarding and alcohol. After a heavy night drinking expensive Belgium beer, we headed off to Shiramine ski resort on Saturday morning. Shiramine is in Ishikawa prefecture, just over the border from Fukui, so it felt quite exciting to be getting out of Fukui for a change. I don't know why, but it feels like a big event to drive over the border of a prefecture in Japan - certainly more of an event than driving over a county border in England. Maybe it's because the prefectures are so big, or maybe it's just because Fukui feels so self contained - we even have our own TV station.
Anyway, Shiramine was fantastic - loads of fantastic runs and hardly any people. Enjoy the pics!
