Engrish.com

I've just discovered a fantastic website: Engrish.com. It's got hundreds of examples of Japanese English, from the subtle to the downright bizarre. My personal favourite is this warning on a mobile phone. Remember kids, "let's keep mobile manners".

Actually, they're pretty strict on "mobile manners" here in Japan. Every phone has a "manner mode", which not only silences the ring tones, but increases the sensitivity of the microphone so you only have to whisper. Using your mobile on a train is a big no-no too. A certain JET has a legendary story of how a Japanese man started a fight with him because he answered his mobile phone whilst on a train.

Now that's serious mobile manners for you.
