"That's it, keep smiling, keep smiling, no funny business. This gun's loaded you know, and I've got it pointed right at your spleen - just look good for the camera or it's the last thing you'll ever see, Sonny Jim. Thought you could escape did you? You should know by now... THERE IS NO ESCAPING THE SOTSUGYOUSHIKI. Mwahahaha!!!"

Ok, erm, how much of this is a joke and how much of this is true? Do people really burst into tears?

Nice style statement Lew. Who would have thought a conservative dark suit & tie would go with Converse trainers. Dad

Funny you should mention the trainers - despite the fact that graduation is a black tie affair, everyone still wears their usual indoor shoes, so half the male staff were wearing a tuxedo with socks and sandals. No joke.

Oh, and Ian, yes, kids were really bursting into tears - they take graduation seriously here...

PS. I actually got the Japanese name wrong - it's not "Osoushiki", it's "Sotsugyoushiki". Osoushiki actually means funeral. Whoops.

In my defence one of my teachers told me it was called Osoushiki - obviously his little joke...
