i saw a program on the bomb the other day - a lot of grim things happened in the last century. It's hard to believe that the air and rain there are absolutely fine now.

Yeah, I though radiation was supposed to go on for ages? Ok, 60 years has gone by I suppose, but does anyone know how long the contamination does/did last?

Apparently the residual radiation from the atomic blasts in Nagasaki and Hiroshima is absolutely miniscule - there's an explanation here
