Of course, the down side to this behemoth of a lunch is the waste - all this packaging for just one bowl of soba; even the egg comes polythene-wrapped. How can something be so bad when it's so delicious...? I'm so confused.

you could just make it yourself and bring it to work to avoid the packaging, but that takes away the christmas-day like novelty of opening it all. BTW - try dipping things in the sauce rather than pouring the whole lot on - it tastes even better that way. great blog. i can't wait to get to japan!
