I took this shot in Kyoto, but I've seen the same thing in Kanazawa too.
Mate, People place plastic bottles filled with water around plants and other stuff to keep cats from dropping a stinky crap. One of those urban myths with no proof it works, you know. The logic behind it, I believe, is that cats don't like a reflection of the sun light.
